The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is absolute genius. The Sale is an annual event held in July offering new fall items at steeply discounted prices. The prices go back up to original prices after The Sale. This is opposite of a typical sale where current or last season merchandise is featured and the prices continue drop until the merchandise is gone.
The Sale is a great chance for customers to grab higher priced brands and designer products at a lower price to wear for an entire season and stock up on items used year-round like Hanky Pankys (always a major sale here!).
At TLC, we use The Sale as an opportunity to identify dominant trends for fall. Retailers like Nordstrom are where we see couture designer highlights filter into real life. We use these cues from Nordstrom as insider information to help our clients analyze and shop as they transition their closet into the cooler months. Nordstrom is always one of our go-to’s but remember The Loyal Closet can help you spend your money on the best pieces- regardless of store! Let us do the heavy lifting and transition your uniform into fall.
Now to the good stuff- a few of the major trends we see for cooler weather:
- Texture. Remember us going on and on about the relationship between rough edges and summer tweed? Looks like it was an accurate premonition. Get ready to see lots of tweed, suede, lace, fringe, pleats, and heavy sweaters all mixed with colors and pattern.
Crops. Whether slim, wide-leg or in between, cropped versions of pants are everywhere. Crops are great because they do not need to be hemmed and aren’t tied down to only one heel height. In warmer climates, we can get away with a little bare leg most of the year. In cooler weather, we are seeing the crop layered- slim cuts tucked into boots and wide cuts over tall boots.
Shoe Highlights. Shoes are on full display with cropped pants. This is a great opportunity to showcase some killer pumps or booties. Staples always work, as does a statement pair. Whatever route you choose, ensure that your glass slippers are looking their finest- get our tips here.
What trends will continue to hang through the end of the year? Vests, jewel tones, more casual looks, oversized jackets, block heels- look for a future blog post showing you how to transition those items into fall.
The Sale starts July 21, with early access July 14. Prices go back up August 8.
